The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) aims to digitize India's healthcare system. It will incentivize healthcare professionals and establishments to adopt digital technology, so they can provide better care to more people in a convenient, timely, and efficient manner.ABDM will create an integrated and interoperable digital healthcare ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders, including doctors, patients, health facilities, researchers, and policy-makers.

The National Health Authority (NHA) is implementing Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) to create digital health eco system for the country. ABDM intends to support different healthcare facilities like clinics, diagnostic centers, hospitals, and laboratories in adopting the ABDM ecosystem to make available the benefits of digital health for all the citizens of India.

It is important to standardize the process of identification of an individual across healthcare providers. This is the only way to ensure that the created medical records are issued to the correct individual or accessed by Health Information User through appropriate consent. In order to issue the UHID, the system must collect certain basic details including demographic and location, family/relationship, and contact details. Ability to update contact information easily is the key. The ABHA(Ayushman Bharat Health Account) Number will be used for the purposes of uniquely identifying persons, authenticating them, and threading their health records (only with the informed consent of the patient) across multiple systems and stakeholders.

The implementation of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is expected to significantly improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency of health service delivery overall. Patients will be able to securely store and access their medical records (such as prescriptions, diagnostic reports and discharge summaries), and share them with health care providers to ensure appropriate treatment and follow-up. ABDM compliant health care providers will be able to better manage their operation and patient records more efficiently and deliver more streamlines health care services. Patients will have the option to access health services remotely through tele-consultation and e-pharmacy. Becoming ABDM compliant will empower individuals with accurate information to enable informed decision making and increase accountability of healthcare providers.

NHA has decided to incentivize the stakeholders of the digital health ecosystem in order to boost the adoption of ABDM. This initiative would also provide the right encouragement to majority of healthcare providers for adopting digital health.

ABDM and PMJAY are two health initiatives by National Health Authority(NHA).

ABDM is Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission with the aim to develop the backbone necessary to support the integrated digital health infrastructure of the country. It's a step towards to make establish Digital health ecosytem.

PMJAY is Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna is the largest health assurance scheme in the world which aims at providing a health cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization to over 12 crores poor and vulnerable families.

Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) is a comprehensive repository of all healthcare professionals involved in delivery of healthcare services across both modern and traditional systems of medicine. Enrolling in the Healthcare Professionals Registry will enable them to get connected to India’s digital health ecosystem.

Health Facility Registry (HFR) is a comprehensive repository of health facilities of the nation across different systems of medicine. It includes both public and private health facilities including hospitals, clinics, diagnostic laboratories and imaging centers, pharmacies, etc. Enrolling in the Health Facility Registry will enable them to get connected to India's digital health ecosystem.
